Today I was reminded of you
Taken back to a special place in time
And as I thought of you
A certain sort of sadness filled my heart.

The kind of sadness that comes
From knowing that just one single word
Might take you back right to my door.

Even though the memories
I have from you are beautiful
And thinking back on them
Fills my heart with joy
My eyes also swell with tears
Because we are so far apart.

There's so much sadness
Behind everything that you are
Your steps, are so lonely now
And you try to hide all of it
With a that sweet smile of yours.
